Kapit FMU has also conducted a risk assessment of forestry activities to climate change. The potential risk/activities that release of CO2 into the atmosphere are extraction of timber, pollution of watercourses, forest fire and burning of fossil fuels.

The mitigation measure that has been implemented by FMU to reduce the release of “greenhouse gasses” are forest fire prevention and control, protection of the existing forest, enrichment and restoration planting, implementation of Reduced Impact Logging (RIL) and other climate positive practices.
